Gurgaon: A 21-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted by a Delhi Police constable, who entered a residential society in Sector 56 in an intoxicated state, threatened to kill her family members and issued a rape threat to her younger sister. The incident took place between 5am and 6.30am on May 31. The accused was arrested on Saturday.The woman, a graduation student studying in Dehradun, alleged she received a distress call from her mother while returning home from a function. On reaching the society premises, she was intercepted by the accused, who abused her, threatened her with dire consequences and physically assaulted her. According to the complaint, the assault was so severe that she feared for her life.She said that only the intervention of friends present at the spot prevented the situation from escalating further. The woman said she suffered physical injuries as well as severe mental trauma due to the incident.A local court dismissed the bail application of the accused on Wednesday. “He brutally assaulted the victim,” advocate Mohit Verma, counsel for the woman, told TOI. Police sources said the woman and the accused were previously in a relationship, which ended some time ago. They both came into contact through social media. The complainant alleged that despite the breakup, the accused continued to stalk and harass her.Initially, the case was registered under sections 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), 126 (wrongful restraint), 333 (house trespass), 351(2) (criminal intimidation) and 79 (any word, gesture, act, or intrusion meant to insult a woman’s modesty or privacy) of BNS at Sector 56 police station on the same day. Now police have added Section 11 (sexual harassment of a child) of the POCSO Act against the accused. “Police have added the POCSO section after we contended that a 15-year-old girl was harassed by the accused. Police informed the court about the same too on Wednesday,” advocate Verma told TOI.According to the woman’s complaint, the accused repeatedly rang the doorbell of her apartment after entering the society. When the woman’s mother opened the door, the accused tried to force his way inside the house. After being prevented from entering, he abused her and threatened to kill her. The complainant alleged that when her 15-year-old younger sister came to the door, the accused hurled obscene abuses at her and threatened to rape and kill her.Police were alerted through the 112 emergency helpline, following which the woman underwent a medical examination. Investigators are also examining CCTV footage from the society, which is said to have captured the accused entering the residential complex and moving towards the complainant’s residence. The accused reached the society in his black Mahindra Thar bearing registration number UP14GR2028.She also claimed that he threatened her on earlier occasions. In her complaint, the woman referred to an FIR registered against the accused at Sector 56 police station on Sept 29, 2025. She claimed that she later withdrew the complaint after he threatened to circulate her private videos.
