New Delhi: Police arrested three members of a theft syndicate and recovered 604 brand-new smartphones worth around Rs 1.5 crore. The phones were stolen from a delivery truck transporting a consignment to an e-commerce warehouse.The arrests were made in connection with an e-FIR registered at Sector-23 Dwarka police station June 20 following a complaint by a warehouse manager.DCP (Dwarka) Kushal Pal Singh said, “Around 4,500 brand-new smartphones were loaded for delivery to a warehouse in Gurgaon. During transit, the truck driver allegedly conspired with his associates to steal nearly 1,500 phones from the consignment before abandoning the truck with the remaining cargo in Gurgaon and fleeing.”Investigation revealed that the pickup vehicle, along with a portion of the stolen consignment, was already recovered by Uttar Pradesh Police.Police then conducted a raid at a garden in Bulandshahr district of Uttar Pradesh, where they recovered the smartphones. The arrested accused have been identified as Pankaj, Anand and Mohit, all residents of Uttar Pradesh. The three were allegedly involved in similar cases of theft in different states.Police said the interrogation has yielded leads about other members of the syndicate.
