Delhi Metro Rail Corporation announced the reopening of all metro stations after imposing temporary restrictions.

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has reopened the entry and exit gates of all metro stations across its network after imposing restrictions at 45 stations ahead of the Cockroach Janta Party’s (CJP) planned protest at Jantar Mantar on Saturday.“Entry and exit gates of all Metro Stations of the Delhi Metro network are now open. The interchange facility at all the concerned Metro stations is also available,” the DMRC said in a service update. The restrictions were initially scheduled to remain in place until 6pm on Saturday but were extended until 10pm amid security arrangements for the protest. The DMRC had earlier reduced the number of affected stations from 57 to 45 following a revised advisory. The curbs were imposed at the request of Delhi Police amid concerns over crowd movement towards sensitive locations. Key stations affected included Rajiv Chowk, Central Secretariat, Patel Chowk, Janpath, Mandi House, ITO and Kashmere Gate. The CJP had called for a demonstration demanding the resignation of chief election commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in electoral rolls and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process.More than 7,000 people were detained across Delhi as police prevented protesters from reaching Jantar Mantar. They were later released, except for the 3 party leaders.
