DELHI: A 30-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her husband following a domestic dispute and suspicions of an extra-marital affair at their residence in Delhi’s Shahdara. Police arrested the accused, Khalid Navi, in Mumbai on Tuesday.The victim, identified as Rukshar, was found dead at her home in Kailash Nagar on Saturday, June 13.Following the registration of an FIR, police conducted an intensive investigation. While the accused initially attempted to evade capture by switching off his mobile phone and avoiding digital trails.“We then relied on human intelligence and extensive field verification. Enquiries revealed that the accused had links in Badaun in Uttar Pradesh, Hubballi in Karnataka, Mumbai and Goa. Police teams were dispatched to these locations while simultaneous searches were carried out in Delhi,” the officer said.During interrogation, Khalid allegedly confessed that persistent marital disputes over the past year and his suspicion regarding an extra-marital affair had led to frequent arguments.“On the day of the incident, an argument broke out while he was trying to reconcile with her, following which he allegedly attacked her with a knife, causing her death,” a police officer stated.After the incident, Khalid reportedly fled Delhi, travelling on multiple trains without a ticket before reaching Mumbai, where he intended to seek help from his brother to evade arrest.Police noted that the couple had been married for 15 years and had three children. Khalid has a history of six prior arrests in preventive proceedings.(With agency inputs)
