Gurgaon: Days after a high-voltage transmission line was snapped, which threw life out of gear, Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) and Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) officials have been put on alert.DHBVN and UHBVN managing director Vikram Singh, in an order issued on Monday, directed field officers to resolve local power-related issues promptly through better coordination with Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Ltd (HVPNL) and the district administration.The MD’s directions come in the wake of Saturday’s incident in which the 66-kV transmission line crossing NH8 near Narsinghpur snapped, forcing authorities to halt traffic on the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway for about an hour as the live cable hung dangerously over the carriageway.The fault also disrupted power supply to several residential and commercial areas in the city for nearly eight hours while transmission utility officials carried out emergency restoration work.Singh said several matters that could have been resolved at the local level were instead reaching the headquarters because of poor coordination and delayed action by field officials. As a result, consumers and public representatives were forced to approach the managing director’s office directly.Singh warned that negligence, lack of coordination or unnecessary delays in addressing electricity-related complaints would be viewed seriously and could invite administrative action against the responsible officers.“Chief engineers, superintending engineers and executive engineers will regularly review the power distribution system in their jurisdictions, maintain close coordination with HVPNL and ensure prompt redressal of consumer complaints,” said Singh.Power supply remained disrupted on Saturday in several high-rise societies, forcing families to struggle through the humid night without fans or air conditioners. Residents said the worst affected were infants, young children and senior citizens, many of whom found the heat unbearable.According to DHBVN, the disruption was caused after the 66-kV conductor on the Harsaru-Sector 35 circuit snapped while crossing NH8 on Friday evening, affecting power supply from the 66-kV Sector 35 substation.The fault disrupted electricity supply to 10 feeders, including New Sector 35, New Shani Dev, Superon, Sona BLW, Anand NVH, HSIIDC-1, MM Aqua, MTech Auto, Bambino Agro and HSIIDC-2.The outage also affected feeders under the Kherki Daula subdivision, including SPR Road (Urban), Begumpur Khatola (Urban), Suzuki (Independent) and Lenskart (Independent).Compounding the problem was a three-day shutdown on the Badshahpur circuit, where HVPNL was already carrying out scheduled maintenance work, leaving no alternate source available for supply restoration.
