Ambala: Ambala police on Saturday claimed to have arrested a cyber fraudster from Delhi for duping a man of around Rs 45 lakh on the pretext of offering high returns through online trading.The arrest was made by Ambala Cyber Crime Police as part of a special drive against cyber offences and wanted accused.The accused, Harshit, a resident of Bhajanpura, Delhi, was arrested following a probe based on technical inputs, scientific investigation and digital evidence.The accused was produced before a court and taken on police remand. Police said they would question him to identify other gang members and trace and recover the defrauded money.According to the police, complainant Arun Atri, originally from Hasanpur village in Naraingarh and currently residing at Anand Nagar, Boh, Ambala Cantonment, lodged a complaint with Ambala Cyber Crime Police on Jan 10.Atri alleged that between Sept 17 and Dec 6, 2025, unidentified cyber fraudsters lured him with promises of making substantial profits through online trading and subsequently cheated him of approximately Rs 45 lakh on various pretexts.Under the supervision of the Cyber Crime police station in charge SI Sandeep Kumar, PSI Manpreet Singh and his team investigated the complaint using technical resources and digital evidence, which led to Harshit’s identification and arrest.Ambala Police advised people not to fall for unsolicited or lucrative online trading offers and to exercise caution while making financial transactions.They urged victims of cyber fraud to immediately call the national cybercrime helpline 1930 or register a complaint through the govt’s cybercrime portal to enable timely action.
