The AAP demanded an apology from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP for “misleading the nation”. Kejriwal broke down in court after all accused were discharged. Addressing the media later, he said, “I challenge Modi ji to hold elections in Delhi again. If they get more than 10 seats, I will leave politics.” Explaining his silence during the case, the former chief minister said, “People kept asking where I had gone. I chose to remain quiet until the truth came out. Our families suffered a lot during this period.”
Kejriwal alleged a political conspiracy against the AAP, accusing Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah of trying to dismantle the party. “Two people hatched this conspiracy to finish AAP. Today, they should apologise to the country. I have earned honesty, not money,” he said.
Kavitha addressed a press conference at the Banjara Hills office of Telangana Jagruthi, the socio-cultural organisation she founded. “From day one, I said this was a false case and that I would come out clean. Today, the verdict proves the truth beyond doubt,” she said.
However, she said the verdict does not erase the personal and familial suffering of the past five-and-a-half months. She claimed she was forcibly separated from her children, subjected to humiliation, character assassination and mental trauma. “No amount of compensation can restore my dignity or bring back the time stolen from my family. What happened was nothing short of injustice,” Kavitha said.
She also rejected attempts to link the BRS’ Assembly election defeat to the excise case, calling such claims dishonest and politically motivated. “Trying to pin an electoral defeat on me is an insult to the intelligence of the people of Telangana,” she said. She added that the BRS lost due to its own failures – non-delivery on jobs, housing and welfare promises, distribution of tickets to undeserving candidates and arrogance.
