Delegation of Sri Lanka’s ruling party to visit India under ‘KNOW BJP’ initiative

A five-member delegation of Sri Lanka’s ruling party Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) will embark on a four-day visit to India, during which they will meet External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and BJP national president Nitin Nabin, among others, the BJP said on Saturday.

The JVP delegation, led by its general secretary Tilvin Silva, will visit India from September 27 to October 1 on invitation under the “KNOW BJP” initiative, the party said.

Other members of the delegation are JVP’s central committee member Chandrika Adikari, Member of Parliament Aboobucker Athambawa, district committee member Kabilan Suntharamoorthy and member of the party’s international department Kalpana Madhubhashini.

They are scheduled to arrive on Sunday (September 26, 2026).

In a statement, the BJP’s foreign affairs department in-charge Vijay Chauthaiwale said: “A five-member delegation of Sri Lanka’s ruling Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna, led by its general secretary Tilvin Silva, will visit India from September 27 to October 1, 2026, at the invitation of the Bharatiya Janata Party.”

During the visit, the delegation is scheduled to meet BJP national president Nitin Nabin, national general secretary (organisation) B L Santhosh and other senior BJP leaders, he said. They will also hold interactions with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, he added.

Mr. Chauthaiwale said the JVP delegation will interact with members of various BJP morchas and departments at the party headquarters, and visit the Parliament of India and the Delhi BJP office.

“The visit aims to strengthen the BJP-JVP engagement, facilitate exchange of organisational experiences and further deepen ties between the two political parties,” he said.

While the BJP had not yet shared further details about the JVP delegation’s visit, sources indicated that they are likely to call on Mr. Jaishankar and Mr. Nabin on October 1, the last day of their visit.
