Gaya: Following a state govt directive, seven blocks in Gaya district — Atri, Neemchak-Bathani, Konch, Mohra, Banke Bazar, Dumaria and Mohanpur — will start degree-level classes from July 1.District magistrate Shashank Shubankar on Thursday reviewed preparations via video conference with sub-divisional officers, the Magadh University vice-chancellor, newly appointed principals, education officials and engineers from technical departments.“The classes will begin under the Saat Nischay-3 programme from July 1 in temporary facilities until permanent campuses are developed,” the DM said.“As per norms, at least five acres of land is required in rural areas and 2.5 acres in urban areas for setting up permanent degree colleges. Land identification is being prioritised.”He added that temporary campuses will have basic facilities such as furniture, computers, Wi-Fi, drinking water, separate toilets, electricity, lighting, fans, coolers, stationery and security. Approach roads to the institutions are also being upgraded.“Separate committees headed by ADM-rank officers have been constituted for each college, and sub-divisional officers have been asked to inspect the campuses. Efforts are being made to ensure quality educational facilities for students in rural areas as well,” he said.
