Claiming the defence minister committed a breach of privilege, All India Congress Committee’s ex-servicemen cell chairman, retired Colonel Rohit Chaudhry, said, “When Rajnath Singh lied in Parliament by stating that Indian forces didn’t suffer any loss during Operation Sindoor, BJP MPs were clapping. None of these people have the right to sit in the House. The defence minister has insulted the country’s army and soldiers and we demand his resignation. A privilege motion should be brought against the defence minister.”
The Congress criticism came days after a defence ministry statement said the names of the six martyrs had been inscribed on a wall at the National War Memorial after completion of due procedure.
The ministry also said that tributes had been paid to these martyred soldiers during Operation Sindoor in a briefing on May 11, 2025, by the director general of the military operations and that their family members were subsequently handed over gallantry awards on their behalf.
