Hyderabad: An unidentified, highly decomposed body was recovered during a desilting operation at the Mothukula Kunta outlet drain in Machabollaram, Alwal mandal of Medchal–Malkajgiri district on Wednesday.The body was discovered while HYDRAA’s disaster response force (DRF) and monsoon response teams were clearing accumulated silt and garbage from the drain.According to the officials at the site, an excavator was removing large quantities of waste when the body surfaced along with the debris. Officials added that the body has decomposed to such an extent that only skeletal remains with traces of tissue were visible, making identification difficult.HYDRAA personnel alerted the Alwal police, who reached the spot, secured the area and shifted the body for further examination. Preliminary findings indicate that the body may have been in the drain for around 15 days, though the exact duration and cause of death will be established only after forensic examination.A case has been registered and the body has been sent for postmortem examination, Alwal police officials told TOI.Police are simultaneously reviewing missing-person complaints registered at Alwal police station and neighbouring police stations to establish the identity of the deceased.
