Noida: Residents and visitors to Harola, Sector-5, complain about a sizeable debris obstruction on the main access road to the Sharma Market in the area, which has persisted for the past several days. The accumulation of debris, reportedly left behind after a contractor’s excavation for drain construction, poses serious risks to public safety and health in the area. The sector’s Residents’ Welfare Association (RWA) has formally lodged a complaint with the CEO of the Noida Authority, highlighting the commuting difficulties and safety issues faced by residents of the area.RWA president of Sector 43 Deepak Sharma, who regularly visits the area, reported that the blockage has made it nearly impossible to use the main access road. “This road is a critical transit point utilised daily by thousands of families and local vendors. The community members are worried about the repercussions of the obstruction as it not only hampers daily activities but also creates an unsafe environment for pedestrians and vehicles alike,” he said.Residents said the situation has worsened with wastewater flowing onto the road from the unfinished drain.“This unsanitary condition is particularly concerning during the ongoing monsoon season, as it raises the risk of waterborne diseases such as malaria and dengue, which are already prevalent during this time of year,” Yogesh Sharma, RWA general secretary of Sector 43, told TOI.The Sector 43 RWA has written to the Noida Authority CEO demanding urgent action to clear the debris and expedite the drain construction process. It is necessary that the problem is fixed soon, as it not only inconveniences residents but also poses a risk to their health, residents said.“There is an urgent need for swift intervention. We are concerned about potential accidents and health hazards that could arise if this situation is not rectified promptly,” Deepak Sharma said.When asked about the issue, Noida Authority officials said the debris would be cleared soon.
