Gorakhpur: The department of commerce at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University on Monday organised a two-day national seminar on ‘GST in India: Achievements, Challenges and the Way Forward’ with the support of Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR). Chief guest CP Agarwal and guest of honour Aditya Bharti shared their views on the economic significance of GST while head of the department prof S V Pathak highlighted the objectives and relevance of the seminar. Academicians, tax experts, chartered accountants, research scholars and students from various universities and institutions participated in the programme. The inaugural session, held at Shri Mahayogi Guru Gorakshnath Research Peeth on the campus, was chaired by the university’s vice-chancellor prof Poonam Tandon. The department also released its international peer-reviewed journal. Vote of thanks was proposed by co-convener prof Rajeev Prabhakar. TNN
