Hyderabad: Telangana Congress president B Mahesh Kumar Goud on Tuesday said that some District Congress Committee (DCC) presidents had complained to Rahul Gandhi against eight MLAs for non-cooperation, following which he began speaking to the legislators on the directions of the AICC leadership.Addressing the media at Gandhi Bhavan, he said Rahul Gandhi is personally overseeing the restructuring of the party through the DCC presidents’ set-up, including defining their roles and responsibilities. “As many as eight DCC presidents from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana were not given training certificates as they failed to attend more than one day of the 10-day training camp,” Goud said, emphasising how serious the AICC was about the training session. He claimed that the BJP was unfairly targeting Rahul Gandhi and demanded that the BJP and RSS explain to the people the alleged references to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Epstein files. He brushed aside criticism and allegations by BRS working president KT Rama Rao against chief minister A Revanth Reddy, Rahul Gandhi, and the Congress govt in the state, terming them as frustration over the BRS and its top leadership losing the trust and confidence of the people.“Revanth’s statement that, if needed, party workers would contribute Rs 1 to reach a Rs 1,000 crore goal was intentionally twisted by KTR. People have stopped believing the BRS, and its defeat in every election after Dec 2023 is a testimony to this fact,” he said. On the Maoists’ surrender, Mahesh Goud said the Congress opposed ‘Operation Kagar’ and added that the BJP and RSS must explain to the people why the Prime Minister was willing to hold talks with Pakistan but not with the Maoists. “The Congress is not actively scouting for members. However, Maoists who wish to surrender and join the democratic path through the Congress party would be welcomed,” he said. Stating that revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy had already responded to criticism from Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan, the TPCC chief expressed confidence that the party would form govt in Kerala.
