Mandya: Deputy commissioner Kumara on Thursday reviewed arrangements for the forthcoming Vairamudi Brahmotsava 2026 at Melukote. The annual festival is scheduled to be held from March 23 to April 5, with the much-awaited Vairamudi, the crown-wearing ceremony and grand procession set for March 28.Anticipating a large turnout, the DC directed officials to ensure an uninterrupted supply of clean drinking water across the temple town. He instructed that all existing water tankers be thoroughly cleaned and maintained to uphold hygiene standards.
To manage the expected influx of pilgrims, the administration prioritised safety and infrastructure. Officials were told to erect strong barricades in key areas, enhance CCTV surveillance in crowded zones, and deploy trained swimmers, along with fire and emergency personnel, near the temple pond. Medical teams equipped with ambulances will be stationed at strategic points, while bio-toilets will be installed near the bus stand and temple premises to maintain sanitation.Road repair works were ordered to ensure smooth movement of vehicles, and special bus services will operate from various taluks. Free shuttle buses will ferry devotees from designated parking areas to the temple entrance.A strict ban on plastic was enforced to promote environmental responsibility.
