Tanuja, a native of Beerammanahalli village in Gauribidanur, died while undergoing treatment at the Nelamangala Government Hospital.

BENGALURU: A 31-year-old newly-married woman allegedly died after consuming poison in Nelamangala near Bengaluru, with police suspecting she took the extreme step after a conversation with her husband.Tanuja, a native of Beerammanahalli village in Gauribidanur, died while undergoing treatment at the Nelamangala Government Hospital.According to police, the incident took place at Basavanahalli in Nelamangala. Tanuja had recently married Ravindra, a resident of Mayasandra in Yelahanka, after the two fell in love.Police said the couple first got to know each other while travelling to work. Their friendship eventually blossomed into a relationship, and they later got married at Dharmasthala.However, after the marriage, Ravindra allegedly told Tanuja that he would inform his family about their marriage after some time. Until then, she continued to live separately in a rented house in Yelahanka.On the day of the incident, Tanuja reportedly called Ravindra and asked him to come home. Police said Ravindra informed her that he was unable to visit immediately and would come the following morning.As per the police, Ravindra was at his parent’s house when Tanuja called him. That’s why he refused to meet her immediately. This made her upset.Police said Tanuja became distressed after the conversation and switched off her mobile phone shortly afterwards.At around 10am, Ravindra reportedly received a message from Tanuja stating that she had consumed poison. In the message, she also informed him that she was at Basavanahalli in Nelamangala.After receiving the message, Ravindra rushed to the location and found her. He immediately shifted her to the Nelamangala Government Hospital for treatment, where doctors declared her dead.The Nelamangala Town Police have registered a case and launched an investigation to ascertain the exact circumstances that led to the incident.
