Chennai: FMCG major Dabur India will break ground for its first factory in south India at Tindivanam in Tamil Nadu on Thursday. It comes 18 months after the company signed an MoU with the state govt in August 2024 to set up the facility. Chief minister M K Stalin will participate in the groundbreaking ceremony virtually. The plant will be operational within six months, company sources said.
The Rs 400 crore facility will be established in two phases. While the first phase will produce toothpaste, honey, rosewater, and air fresheners with an installed capacity of around 11,000 MT, the second phase will focus on the food and beverage portfolio. Dabur India vice-president manufacturing Hrishikesh Ramani told TOI, “We look forward to building a world-class manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu that is powered by state-of-the-art technology and will fully run on renewable energy. This unit will employ a predominantly women workforce, and we are working towards ensuring that a significant portion of our value chain is sourced locally from Tamil Nadu.”
