Nagpur: A 59-year-old cyclist was killed after being allegedly hit by a speeding two-wheeler near the gate of Vidarbha Hockey Ground on Amravati Road late on Thursday night.The deceased was identified as Jatashankar Lokai, a resident of Vasantrao Naik Slum. Police said he was cycling home when the accident occurred around 11pm on July 17.Following the accident, the rider fled the spot. During the investigation, Sitabuldi police examined CCTV footage from the area and traced the motorcycle through its registration number captured on camera. The vehicle was subsequently linked to Pradeep Bopche, a resident of Wadi.“The biker was riding recklessly and rammed into Lokai’s bicycle, leaving him critically injured. He was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival,” Sitabuldi police said.Based on a complaint lodged by Lokai’s daughter, Rekha Suraj Yadav (25), a native of Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, Sitabuldi police have registered a case against Bopche.
