Jaipur: Victims of cyber financial fraud involving Rs 1 lakh or more in Rajasthan will now have an e-Zero FIR registered automatically immediately after reporting of the crime, with Rajasthan Police lowering the threshold from Rs 5 lakh to enable faster legal action.The revised system came into effect across the state Thursday following orders issued by director general of police Rajeev Kumar Sharma, who directed all police commissioners and district SPs to implement the new procedure.Additional director general of police (cyber crime) V K Singh said the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP) of the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) has now been integrated with the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS). As a result, complaints involving cyber financial fraud of Rs 1 lakh or more, lodged through the 1930 cyber helpline, will automatically generate an e-Zero FIR at the concerned state cyber police station.Police said investigators will begin legal action immediately after the e-Zero FIR is registered, without waiting for the complainant’s signature. This includes freezing bank accounts, putting suspicious transactions on hold, collecting call detail records (CDRs), internet protocol detail records (IPDRs), CCTV footage and other digital evidence.Under the revised procedure, complainants must visit the concerned police station within 72 hours to sign the printed copy of the FIR. If they fail to do so, a notice will be issued. However, the investigation and other legal proceedings will continue.Police said cases involving fraud of Rs 1 crore or more will be investigated by the State Cyber Crime Police Station, Jaipur, while cases involving Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1 crore will be handled by the district cyber police station or the local police station, as directed by the district SP or DCP.
