times news networkVadodara: The child welfare committee (CWC), Vadodara, renewed consultations with the family of Ramesh Padhiya, who was killed in the Gambhira Bridge collapse on July 9, 2025, to explore education and care options for his three minor daughters.Members of the CWC, with officials of the district child protection unit and representatives of the NGO House of Humanity, visited Padhiyar’s family in Dariyapura village near Vadodara on Thursday.Ramesh and his wife Sonal were travelling in a van with their two-year-old son, four-year-old daughter and three other relatives when the vehicle fell into the Mahi river after the bridge collapsed on July 9. All occupants died except Sonal. Three daughters had been left with relatives at their home.CWC members met Sonal earlier and offered assistance but she had asked to consider the matter later after the family came to terms with the tragedy.CWC chairman Mehul Lakhani said the committee discussed shifting the girls to Vadodara for their education with the support of a suitable organisation. Sonal is likely to visit Vadodara with relatives and the girls to assess the available facilities.Lakhani added that govt schemes are in place to support children in such circumstances.
