Margao: State Congress president Amit Patkar on Saturday claimed that the accused in the Curchorem sex scandal case had victimised over 100 minor girls, with the alleged exploitation spanning three years.Patkar made the claim while addressing reporters during a protest march organised by the Goa Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee. He said the victims were from Curchorem, Margao, Vasco, and Ponda.Soham Naik, a resident of Madhegal, Cacora, and son of Curchorem-Cacora councillor Sushant Naik, was arrested on March 21 following a public uproar outside Curchorem police station. Patkar alleged the scandal was far larger than what was being reported, and said the accused was allegedly involved in the crimes when he was 17–18 years old.Patkar also questioned why the Goa State Women’s Commission, the Goa State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, and the state education department had not yet intervened.The state Congress president stressed the urgent need to identify victims and provide them counselling, warning that those under pressure could resort to extreme steps.
