Koraput: Central University of Odisha (CUO) celebrated its 18th foundation day on its main campus in Sunabeda on Saturday, with speakers calling for greater focus on scientific education, skill development and holistic learning. Vice-chancellor Ajit Kumar Shasany said the varsity should leverage the region’s tribal diversity and biodiversity, besides emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, to strengthen education and research.“Let us take CUO to the global stage,” Shasany said, outlining his vision of increasing the university’s student strength to 5,000 and strengthening its skill centre. He also stressed the importance of sports, fitness and a vibrant campus life.
