Ahmedabad: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has declared the results of the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) conducted on Feb 7 and 8. The exam, which determines eligibility for teaching positions in CBSE-affiliated schools, saw 23.3 lakh candidates appear nationwide. Of these, only 5.9 lakh candidates qualified, resulting in an overall pass percentage of 25.7%.This year marked a significant change in the exam’s format, as CTET was held over two days for the first time, instead of being conducted on a single day. The move was prompted by a sharp rise in applications. Initially scheduled for Feb 8, the registration window remained open from Nov 27 to Dec 18. While 25.3 lakh candidates registered within the original period, an extended window for completing incomplete applications pushed total registrations to 26.5 lakh. The examination was conducted across 140 cities, with nearly 23.2 lakh candidates finally appearing. However, 17.3 lakh candidates failed to clear the test, underlining the intense competition and strict qualifying standards.CTET consists of two papers. Paper 1 is meant for aspirants seeking to teach Classes 1 to 5, while Paper 2 is for those targeting Classes 6 to 8. Paper 1 recorded relatively better performance, with 3.6 lakh candidates qualifying out of 10.7 lakh who appeared, translating into a 33.7% pass rate. In comparison, Paper 2 saw only 3.5 lakh candidates qualify out of 18.7 lakh, with the pass percentage dropping to 18.6%.CBSE said eligibility certificates for successful candidates will be made available through DigiLocker for easy access.BoxTough Test CTET results show low overall pass percentage amid rising candidatesCTET was conducted over two days for the first time nationwide this yearMore than 23 lakh candidates appeared across 140 citiesQualified candidates can download eligibility certificates from DigiLocker
