Jaipur: Chief secretary V Srinivas will present an initial preview of the International Institute of Administrative Sciences (IIAS) Governance Index at an international public administration conference in Athens, Greece, from Oct 12-15, bringing the state’s administrative experience into global discussions on governance reforms.The proposed index, being developed under Srinivas’s leadership, aims to provide a global reference for assessing the functioning of public institutions and identifying areas for improvement. Its conceptual framework and methodology will be presented to international experts during the conference. A governance index is a tool used to measure and rank the quality of public administration, institutional effectiveness and policy implementation across countries, states or cities.Srinivas, who is also the president of IIAS, will deliver the inaugural and valedictory addresses at the annual conference of International Association of Schools and Institutes of Administration (IASIA), which is expected to bring together more than 600 delegates from over 100 countries. The conference’s theme is “Rethinking Governance for a Changing World”.Srinivas and IIAS scientific director Marco De La Cruz will jointly present the initial preview of the index, one of the key highlights of the event.Srinivas will also chair IIAS Council of Administration meeting on Oct 13 and address IASIA Board of Management on Oct 12. He is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with senior officials and academics, including representatives of Greece’s National Centre for Public Administration and Local Government, IASIA president Liezel Lues and India’s ambassador to Greece Ravi Shankar.The conference will discuss administrative innovation, digital transformation, institutional capacity and ways to improve accountability, public trust and citizen-centric governance. Srinivas will also participate in IASIA’s General Assembly as the organisation marks its 65th anniversary.Elected IIAS president on June 3, 2025, for the 2025-28 term, Srinivas is the first Indian to hold the position. His participation offers an opportunity to present India’s and Rajasthan’s administrative experiences in an international forum focused on public administration and institutional reforms.
