Lucknow: Chief secretary SP Goyal on Tuesday chaired a meeting to assess land availability for electric vehicle charging stations as the state accelerates adoption of clean mobility initiatives. Stressing the significance of the Prime Minister’s E-Drive Scheme in building green and sustainable transport in Uttar Pradesh, Goyal said faster rollout of public charging infrastructure would require coordinated action by all concerned departments and authorities. He directed departments to conduct surveys of office premises under their control, vacant land parcels and other suitable public locations to identify sites for EV charging stations. The exercise will cover departmental campuses, parking sites managed by urban local bodies, industrial areas and logistics parks, land held by development authorities and appropriate locations along state highways and expressways.Goyal instructed that all identified sites and related details be shared with UP Renewable and EV Infrastructure Ltd to enable planning and execution. He also ordered the designation of nodal officers at the state and district levels to oversee implementation under the scheme. For each potential site, departments were asked to provide the name and full address, photographs and precise latitude and longitude, along with a clearly marked area map. Officials said urban sites of around 400-600 sq ft and highway or expressway corridor sites of about 3,000 sq ft would be treated as suitable for charging stations.
