Vadodara: A 60-year-old man was killed by a crocodile while grazing his goats on the banks of the Ashwin River in Narmada district on Friday afternoon.Mayyudin Rathod was grazing his goats near the river in Sindhiyapura village of Tilakwada taluka, not knowing that the crocodile was lurking in the river. When he went close to the water, the reptile lunged at him and dragged him into the river. The attack happened so quickly that villagers nearby didn’t get time to react. Rathod didn’t get time to even scream for help. The others saw Rathod being dragged away and immediately called the police and forest department. A search operation was initiated with the help of locals. They finally found Rathod’s body about an hour later and retrieved it. Villagers say that they have been pleading with the administration to relocate the crocodiles from the river as they fear such attacks. The Narmada is home to many crocodiles and locals have been warned to stay away from the river.
