Prayagraj: A criminal was injured and arrested after an encounter in Pratapgarh late on Sunday night. A country-made pistol of .315 bore, one used and two live cartridges, and a motorcycle were seized by the police. The injured criminal, Ibrahim, was admitted to the district hospital.A group of three miscreants had looted mobiles from two youngsters near Samaspur highway on Feb 13 after injuring one of them and an FIR was registered. The police arrested one of the accused —Abdul Rehman of Pareva Narayanpur, and seized a country-made pistol along with a live cartridge, a bike, and a mobile from his possession. Another accused—Al-Hasan of Parewa Narayanpur—was also arrested.On Sunday night, a joint team of SOG, Hathigaon, and SWAT received the tip-off about the movement of the wanted criminal near Kalyanpur Duwar river bridge. Noticing a suspect on a bike, the cops signalled him to stop. He tried to escape and opened fire. The cops retaliated, resulting in injury to him. Police said Ibrahim has several criminal cases pending against him in different police stations. tnn
