Buxar: Soon after the Bihar cabinet approved the Brahmpur-Koransarai-Sarenja-Itadhi road project in Buxar district on Wednesday, politicians began claiming credit for the long-pending scheme. The over-80-km project, estimated to cost around Rs 980 crore, is expected to improve connectivity and accelerate development in the region.State education minister Mithilesh Kumar Tiwari claimed the project was approved because of his efforts. “I give credit for bringing this project to myself. I thank Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and RCD minister Shailendra Kumar for approving it,” he said. Mithilesh added that the people of Buxar Lok Sabha constituency had supported him with more than four lakh votes and assured them of his continued commitment to the district’s development.Buxar MP Sudhakar Singh, however, said the project received approval due to the pressure created by him. He said he had consistently raised the demand in the Lok Sabha and pushed for better rural connectivity. Welcoming the Cabinet decision, Sudhakar said the road would benefit villages such as Brahmpur, Koransarai, Itadhi and Sarenja by improving access to trade, education, healthcare and employment. He added that farmers would find it easier to transport their produce to markets.Sudhakar, however, said his efforts would continue until the road is extended from Brahmpur via Nainijor to the Buxar-Koilwar route. He demanded National Highway status for the entire stretch and said he would continue to raise the region’s issues “from Parliament to the streets” until all pending demands are fulfilled.On the other hand, Buxar RJD MP Sudhakar Singh said the project received approval because of the pressure created by him. He said he had strongly raised the demand for the road in the Lok Sabha and consistently pushed for better rural connectivity in the region. Welcoming the Cabinet decision, Singh said the road would benefit villages such as Brahmpur,Koran Sarai, Itadhi and Sarenja by improving access to trade, education, healthcare and employment opportunities. He also said farmers would find it easier to transport their produce to markets.However, the MP said his efforts would continue until the road is extended from Brahmpur via Nainijor up to the Buxar-Koilwar route. He demanded that the entire stretch be granted National Highway status to further strengthenregional connectivity. Singh said he would continue to raise the region’s issues “from Parliament to the streets” until all pending demands are fulfilled. Following the Cabinet approval, residents of the region expressed hope that constructionwork would begin soon and give a fresh push to development in the long-neglected rural belt.
