Gurgaon: Continuing the crackdown against black marketing of cooking gas, a team of the food and civil supplies department conducted a raid in Gairatpur Bass and seized 64 empty domestic LPG cylinders. The action was taken to ensure effective control over illegal storage and commercial use of domestic LPG cylinders. The driver of the vehicle carrying the cylinders has been detained and his vehicle seized.The district administration has said there is no shortage the supply of domestic LPG cylinders in the city and its supply is not facing any disruption. Authorities are continuously monitoring the situation in coordination with oil marketing companies to ensure uninterrupted supply of essential commodities, an official said, adding that six teams are deployed to inspect gas agencies, godowns and suspected locations daily to immediately detect any irregularities.District food and supplies controller (DFSC) Ashok Rawat said commercial use of domestic LPG cylinders is strictly prohibited and strict legal action will be taken against anyone found violating these norms. “The main objective of the administration is to ensure timely availability of LPG to eligible consumers and prevent any artificial shortage or black marketing. Continuous inspections and raids are being carried out in various areas to achieve this,” said Rawat.Acting on a tip-off during the operation, the team reached Gairatpur Bass in the Badshahpur area and seized 64 empty Indane-branded cylinders from a vehicle number HR 55 AM 6507. When the vehicle owner, Harendra, a resident of Gairatpur Bass, was questioned, he failed to provide a satisfactory explanation. An FIR has been registered and further investigation is underway. Legal action is being taken under relevant sections.Assistant food supply officer Vijay Kumar, inspectors Gajendra and Inder from the food and civil supplies department were part of the investigating team. Officials said such surprise inspections and raids will continue to ensure complete control over black marketing.DFSC Rawat also appealed to the public to immediately inform the administration if they notice any black marketing and overcharging or illegal storage of LPG cylinders so that prompt action can be taken against those involved.Deputy commissioner Ajay Kumar said to strengthen the grievance redressal system, a dedicated 24X7 control room related to LPG services has been established on the second floor of Mini Secretariat. Here, the general public can register complaints regarding unavailability of gas cylinders, delay in supply, black marketing or illegal storage. “The administration’s objective is to take prompt cognisance of every complaint and ensure time-bound resolution,” said Kumar.Rawat said all complaints received on the control room’s landline number 0124-2868930 will be resolved on a priority basis. He clarified that concerned officers will immediately investigate and take action on complaints related to black marketing and illegal storage.
