Patna: The three-day state conference of the CPI(ML), held in Darbhanga, concluded on Monday with a call to launch a mass contact programme from May 20 to reach out to 10 lakh poor families across Bihar. The party also announced active support for the strike by agricultural workers scheduled for the same day.A key outcome of the conference was the adoption of a 10-point resolution, which will form the basis of the party’s campaigns in the coming days. The issues include immediate implementation of reservation for women in Parliament and state legislatures, conduct of a caste census, expansion of movements for social equality, and protests against the govt’s alleged “bulldozer attacks”.The party also condemned recent remarks by education minister Mithilesh Tiwary regarding girls’ education and restrictions on their participation in rights-based movements.Addressing the concluding session, CPI(ML) general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya said the party would intensify protests against “bulldozer raj”, the govt’s “undemocratic” policies and alleged repression. He urged party workers to take on the challenges posed by “bulldozer administration” and “communal politics”.The party’s observer for the conference, V Shankar, also addressed delegates.On the organisational front, the party constituted a new 107-member state committee, including 27 new members and 13 invitees. The committee includes greater representation for women, youth and leaders associated with public movements. Incumbent state secretary Kunal was re-elected for another term.
