Mangaluru: A Sullia resident, booked for repeatedly violating traffic rules, was fined and ordered by a court to perform 15 days of community service aimed at creating public awareness on road safety.On March 12, three separate cases were registered under the IMV Act against Rakshith G, a resident of Sullia, for repeatedly violating traffic rules in Sullia town. The cases were booked under Sections 119 read with 177, 184 and 194(C) of the IMV Act, according to the police.Based on the chargesheet submitted by Sullia police station sub-inspector Santhosh BP before the SCJ and JMFC Court, Sullia, the cases were taken up for hearing.After hearing the matter, the court imposed a total fine of Rs 3,000 in two separate cases. In all 3 cases, the court also ordered the accused to perform community service for five days each, totalling 15 days, from March 15 to March 29.As part of the community service, he was directed to stand at junctions in Sullia town holding placards carrying traffic rules, and create awareness among the public about the importance of following traffic regulations. The court also ordered suspension of his driving licence for a period of three months.
