Ranchi: A special CID court on Saturday rejected the bail petitions of former Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) chairperson L Khiangte and his former computer operator, Dharmendra Kumar, in a case involving alleged examination irregularities.Khiangte had sought bail, claiming that his arrest was illegal and that he had cooperated with the investigation by appearing before the CID whenever summoned. He was arrested on Aug 10 and moved his bail plea two days later. His advocate, Chandan Kumari, said the defence was awaiting a copy of the order and would challenge it in Jharkhand high court.Dharmendra’s lawyer, Pritanshu Kumar, argued that his client had been made a scapegoat. The court, however, cited the gravity of the allegations while denying him bail.CID registered a case under provisions of BNS, BNSS and the Jharkhand Competitive Examination (Prevention and Redressal of Unfair Means in Recruitment) Act in this connection.State govt ordered a CID inquiry following student protests over alleged JPSC examination irregularities. The agitation ended after chief minister Hemant Soren announced on Aug 17 that all examinations conducted by TSR Data Processing Limited would be cancelled.
