Ranchi: Nearly 10,000 teachers and employees of aided educational institutions staged protests across Jharkhand on Saturday, demanding a 75% increase in govt grants, formulation of service condition rules and filling of vacant posts in the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC).The Vitt Rahit Shiksha Sanyukt Sangharsh Morcha said protests were held outside around 1,250 institutions after the Ranchi administration denied permission for a demonstration near Lok Bhavan despite three requests.Other demands include cabinet approval for the proposed grant hike, extension of the Savitribai Phule Balika Samriddhi Yojana to students of aided institutions, and a three-year window for 158 schools granted establishment permission in undivided Bihar to secure recognition.“We decided to protest at our institutions. Teachers and employees have raised these demands for years, and the govt must take a decision,” Morcha secretary Manish Kumar said. He added that the agitation had continued since 2015, with about 1,250 institutions participating over the years.
