Kanpur: A 30-year-old woman died, while her husband sustained critical injuries after the couple allegedly jumped into the Yamuna river following a domestic dispute near the Marka police station area of Banda district on Monday night. Locals, with the help of police, rescued the couple and rushed them to the Community Health Centre (CHC), where doctors declared the woman dead. The husband was referred to the district hospital in a critical condition.According to police, the couple — Seema (30), wife of Ramlakhan (35) — left their home after an altercation and jumped into the Yamuna river, around 1.5 km from their village. Passersby who witnessed the incident immediately alerted the Marka police.On receiving the information, circle officer Krishna Kant Tripathi and Marka station in-charge Subedar Bindu reached the spot and gathered details from family members. The couple was pulled out of the river and taken to the CHC, where Seema was declared dead. Due to the seriousness of his condition, Ramlakhan was referred to the district hospital for advanced treatment.Police said Ramlakhan worked as a labourer in Delhi and had returned to his village on Monday.
