Amritsar: The police have exposed a conspiracy in which the husband of a municipal councillor allegedly staged an attack on his own house with the help of his nephew and other associates to falsely implicate a youth who married his niece against the family’s wishes. Five persons were arrested in the case. Amritsar police commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhular told mediapersons that in his complaint, Inderjit Singh alleged that around 12:30 am on March 7, some persons fired shots in the air and attacked the gate of his house with sharp-edged weapons (datar).He said an FIR was registered at Majitha Road police station on the complaint of Inderjit Singh alias Bobby, a resident of Faizpura, Amritsar, and husband of Ward No 7 councillor Kajal. Bhullar said that considering the sensitivity of the matter, the investigation was conducted, during which police found that the complaint itself was fabricated. It emerged that the complainant, Inderjit Singh alias Bobby, conspired with others who fired shots and attacked the gate of the house with sharp weapons.CP said the attack was deliberately staged so that the person who married his niece and relatives could be falsely implicated in a criminal case as revenge for marrying without the family’s consent.
