Patna: JD(U) legislator Anant Singh joined the road show of Jan Suraaj candidate Anuj Singh and attended his nomination filing ceremony in Patna on Thursday, where Anuj is contesting the Bihar legislative council election against JD(U) candidate Neeraj Kumar, embarrassing the party. JD(U) said it was aware of the matter but did not indicate whether any action would follow.Ahead of the nomination filing, Mokama MLA Singh, accompanied by former JD(U) neta Chhotu Singh, held a road show in support of Anuj and promised to ensure the victory of “his candidate”. Some of his supporters, however, raised slogans in favour of JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar and Union minister Rajiv Ranjan alias Lalan Singh.“I do not know what the party line is in this matter. The fact remains that he (Neeraj) has opposed me four times in the past and I must pay him back in the same coin,” Singh told the reporters on Thursday.JD(U) national spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan said, “The matter has come to the notice of the party and will share you if any decision is taken in this regard.”Food and consumer protection minister Ashok Choudhary said the party would look into the matter. “This is the party’s job and the party will look into it,” Choudhary said during the Jan Sunwai programme at the JD(U) office.Phulwari MLA Shyam Rajak said the party president had been apprised of the development. “Appropriate action may be taken at the appropriate time,” Rajak added.JD(U) is contesting four of the eight legislative council seats going to polls on Oct 23, while BJP has fielded candidates for the remaining four. RJD, Jan Suraaj and AAP have also entered the contest.Meanwhile, Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor, who attended the nomination filing of party candidates S P Rai and Imtiaz Noorani for the Darbhanga Teachers’ and Graduates’ Legislative Council elections, said issues related to education and employment remained unresolved despite the “double-engine government”. He urged voters to rise above caste and religion and support Jan Suraaj candidates.
