It is notable that none of the corporation schools have secured a centum result this year, and only four schools have achieved a pass rate above 95%. In the previous year, two corporation schools had achieved centum results, and six schools had secured a pass rate between 95% and 99.9%. Commenting on the decline in the pass rate, corporation commissioner M Sivaguru Prabakaran, said, “The drop is not just for corporation schools but across the district. We have initiated a detailed study to find out the reasons for the drop in the pass percentage. There are multiple factors involved, like students, parents and teachers, all of which will be analyzed.” He said teachers would conduct special coaching classes for the students appearing for the supplementary examination to ensure they clear the same in the second chance itself. He said the corporation officials had been keeping track of all students enrolling for higher education. “We are ensuring that all students are joining any higher education course after the completion of Class XII. In the previous year, almost 25 students were enrolled through the efforts of our staff, who paid for their admissions. This year too, efforts will be made to ensure that all of them get enrolled.”
