Jaipur: City police said Thursday that 35 history-sheeters were arrested during a campaign conducted last month with the help of NATGRID (National Intelligence Grid), ICJS (Interoperable Criminal Justice System) and the RajCop police app.DCP Rajarshi Raj Varma said these history-sheeters were absconding and were allegedly involved in criminal activities while using other criminals as a cover. He said police launched a coordinated operation from Feb 6-28 to track them down.He said investigators suspected that some history-sheeters operated from behind the scenes to evade attention. The campaign focused on identifying such suspects using integrated digital databases and field verification.Varma said the RajCop app is linked to back-end systems used by Rajasthan Police, allowing officers to access criminal records and wanted lists directly from their mobile phones. When police check a person’s identity details in the app — such as photo and name — the system cross-checks the information with the database of wanted criminals.He said that while RajCop is for the state police, the ICJS, which stores FIRs, charge sheets and criminal histories across states, also came as a great help, as if a suspect has an FIR, warrant or criminal record in another district or state, the database flags it instantly.Officers can scan vehicle numbers or enter details during routine checks, nakabandi or patrols. The system can indicate whether the suspect is linked to any criminal case.Once a match appears in the system, officers receive details such as pending cases, warrants and the police station where the case is registered. This digital access allows police to identify wanted suspects on the spot without waiting for manual verification from different police stations.“We also used ministry of home affairs’ NATGRID, which is a database that also has a major data base, and to access real-time information on suspects through a single platform,” he said.
