Surat/Bharuch: The Bharuch police has launched a 21-day training programme for their cops in Kalaripayattu, one of India’s oldest martial arts, to improve physical preparedness and self-defence skills within the force.The initiative focuses on strengthening the ability of police personnel to handle situations such as crowd control, communal disturbances and area domination operations while also promoting fitness and confidence among officers.The training programme is being conducted by martial arts trainer Anandha Krishnan. A total of 30 police personnel, including 21 men and nine women are undergoing the training.Kalaripayattu is widely regarded as one of the oldest combat traditions of India and trains practitioners in agility, balance and strategic self-defence techniques. Police officials said the training is intended to improve operational readiness and overall fitness among personnel.
