Kolkata: Kolkata Police has asked all traffic guards to ensure that autos parked illegally on roads should not block normal flow of traffic at crossings. Over the past two days, the cops from three guards shifted the auto stands by a few metres from the actual crossings at Kidderpore and Park Circus. “We found that illegal parking was the biggest hurdle while ensuring traffic keeps moving at crossings, besides jaywalking. We will address both the issues. We will fine any auto operator trying to pick up passengers at crossings,” said an officer from Vidyasagar traffic guard.
Joint CP (traffic & crime) Rupesh Kumar requested PWD for urgent repair of damaged iron railings on median boulevard under DH Road metro viaduct. PWD officials assured that it would be initiated soon. He requested KMC to construct a permanent median divider with iron railings on Circus Avenue. tnn
