Pune: In separate actions, the Pimpri Chinchwad police recovered five country-made pistols after arresting three persons and detaining a minor. The actions were taken by the Sant Tukaramnagar police and Dapodi police on Sunday.Senior police inspector Suhas Avhad of the Sant Tukaramnagar police said that the police got a tip-off that three men would be coming near a ground at Sant Tukaramnagar with firearms. The police team laid a trap and took Deepak Barfe (26) of Pimple Gurav, Atul Bhalerao (31) and Mukesh Kachi (26), both from Dapodi. “We recovered two country-made pistols and two cartridges from the trio,” Avhad said.The officer said that the police are investigating from where the trio obtained the firearms and what was their motive, he said.In another action, the Dapodi police detained a 17-year-old criminal on the police records and recovered three country-made pistols and four cartridges from him.Assistant police commissioner Sachin Hire said that the minor has three criminal cases registered against him. “We are investigating whether he wanted to sell off these firearms or wanted to use them for committing a crime,” Hire said.
