Rajkot: A tip-off led police to a roadside room in Satapar village of Anjar where they found an chemical-based counterfeit liquor factory. The raid led to the arrest of Sunil Mata and Ramzan Juneja, who were allegedly running the factory. Police also seized spurious alcohol, chemicals and manufacturing equipment worth Rs 8.8 lakh. Two persons connected to the offence are at large.Forensic science laboratory (FSL) officials were called to the location for a preliminary investigation, which confirmed that the seized substances were being used to produce counterfeit alcohol. The Kutch East local crime branch (LCB) seized an array of contraband and machinery, including three barrels with 600 litres of a transparent chemical and 350 litres of a brown liquor-like liquid.Police also seized two litres of a dark purple essence used for flavour and colour. They also found 1,056 filled 180ml plastic bottles fraudulently labelled as a certain vodka brand, an electric bottle-filling machine, two bottle-sealing machines, some hologram stickers, bottles and packaging material. After the seizure, an FIR was registered against the accused at Anjar police station.
