Prayagraj: Sleuths of Anti-Narcotic Task Force (Prayagraj Unit) on Sunday arrested a drug peddler, Sarukh, a resident of Barabanki, in the state capital, and seized half a kg heroin worth Rs 1 crore from his possession.Deputy SP (ANTF) Manoj Kumar Singh told TOI that “ANTF Prayagraj unit received an input about three members of an inter-state drug peddling gang arriving from Tikra village, Barabanki, to supply a consignment of heroin. A team of ANTF (Prayagraj unit) swung into action and arrived at Gomti Nagar Extension area in Lucknow and found that three men arrived on two motorcycles to deliver the consignment.”The police teams managed to nab Sarukh, a resident of Tikra Usma (Zaidpur, Barabanki), while his accomplices—Saddam and Ansar, residents of Tikra Usma—managed to give a slip.During interrogation, the arrested miscreant revealed that they were supplying the contraband to various districts across the state, including Lucknow, Sultanpur, Pratapgarh, Prayagraj and Kanpur. The seized contraband and the accused were handed over to the Gomti Nagar Extension police station (Lucknow), where a case was registered under sections of the NDPS Act.
