Nagpur: A 56-year-old assistant sub-inspector died of a heart attack hours after completing late-night Ganpati immersion duty, leaving colleagues and family in shock.Ravindra Kokande of Nagpur City Police Headquarters was on duty in Pachpaoali police station limits for Ganpati visarjan arrangements. He finished work around 1.30 am on Sunday, returned home to Raza Town, Kamptee Road in Kapil Nagar, had a meal and went to bed.Around 3.30 am he complained of chest pain to his son Rishabh (27). The family rushed him first to a private hospital at Teka Naka, then to another hospital in Dhantoli and later Govt Medical College and Hospital. Doctors declared him dead at 11.27 am during treatment.Kapil Nagar police have registered a sudden death case and begun an investigation on medical advice.Kokande was known among colleagues for his friendly nature and sense of duty. Nagpur City Police paid tributes in the presence of senior officers and civil officials. He was cremated at Kapil Nagar Ghat amid a gun salute. Kokande is survived by his wife Sheela Kokande and sons Rishabh (27) and Rohit (25).
