Bengaluru: The Lokayukta police, on Monday evening, caught a woman police sub-inspector red-handed while accepting a bribe of about Rs 1.3 lakh from a man accused in a criminal case. The officer, identified as Savithri Bai, is attached to the Govindapura police station. According to an official release by Lokayukta, Savithri demanded about Rs 1.3 lakh from a person who was booked for allegedly attacking his former live-in partner. The woman had initially approached the police after discovering that her live-in partner was already a married person and subsequently, filed a cheating case, which is pending before the court. More recently, the woman filed yet another complaint alleging her live-in partner attacked her when she refused to withdraw the earlier case. Savithri Bai, who was investigating the second case, allegedly demanded the bribe from the accused to file a ‘B Report’, a closure report stating the complaint was false.The accused then approached Lokayukta. A trap was laid and Bai was caught while accepting the money. She was immediately arrested and Lokayukta police are probing further.
