Motihari: East Champaran police have suspended constable Ashish Kumar Tiwari, posted at the Motihari police line, after a departmental inquiry found his public claim of being the brother or cousin of Bharat Tiwari, who died in an encounter-related incident in Bhojpur, to be misleading.East Champaran SP Swarn Prabhat said the constable’s statements on social media were examined by the concerned DSP. “After the inquiry report was received, Ashish Kumar Tiwari was suspended with immediate effect,” the SP said. He added the constable was facing charges of indiscipline.Police said verification by a chowkidar of Bilauti village established that Ashish Kumar Tiwari and Bharat Tiwari belonged to the same village but were neither brothers nor paternal cousins.Officials also cited Ashish’s previous disciplinary record. During his posting with the Panther team at Piprakothi police station, he allegedly fired a pistol at an officer on duty. Departmental proceedings resulted in the stoppage of two increments, while the criminal case is sub judice.In another departmental proceeding, Ashish was accused of injuring a home guard jawan with a knife during his posting at Harpur police station. His increment was withheld for one year and six months in that case..
