The victim, Ranjit Kumar Sahu, a native of Bihar, worked at a paying guest accommodation in BTM Layout.According to police, the incident occurred near Pragathipura on the intervening night of Oct 21 and 22, when Sahu was crossing the road with his friends. A white car, allegedly driven at high speed, approached them, prompting Sahu’s friend, Nitesh Mukhiya, to wave at the driver and ask him to slow down. The car occupants allegedly hurled abuses before driving away. However, they returned after taking a U-turn, triggering a heated argument with Sahu and his friends. When the occupants began assaulting them, Mukhiya called friends living nearby for help. Seeing others arrive, the three men got back into the car and attempted to flee.“We ran away from the car, but Sahu was standing in front of the vehicle and got stuck under the front portion. The car dragged him for around 100 metres before the car occupants threw him to the roadside,” Mukhiya, who filed a complaint, stated.
