Amritsar: Vikramjit Singh Sahney, one of the seven Rajya Sabha MPs of AAP who had defected to BJP, on Thursday said conversions through allurement, coercion, threat or fraud would not be tolerated, while asserting that the concern was not with any religion or voluntary conversion.Speaking at a ‘Punjab Chintan Baithak’ organised by him in Amritsar, Sahney said, “Our concern is not with any religion or with voluntary faith, but with unlawful practices that exploit vulnerability. At the same time, we must introspect within our own society and remove every form of discrimination that creates a sense of alienation.”More than 40 Sikh saints and religious leaders participated in the meeting, which also discussed the drug menace.The meeting adopted a four-point resolution calling for an end to caste discrimination in villages and around gurdwaras, dignified reintegration of those who voluntarily return to the Sikh fold, economic support for Scheduled Caste families for education and healthcare, and expansion of the Sikhya Langar movement to empower Punjab’s youth.On drugs, the leaders called for simultaneous action against the supply chain and stronger rehabilitation efforts.s
