Prayagraj: A 30-year-old contractual worker in the civil supplies department was allegedly beaten to death by a group of people near Laxmanpur village under the Leelapur police station limits in Pratapgarh district on Thursday night.Police have arrested the prime accused, identified as Daroga Tiwari, a resident of Singhadur, after lodging an FIR under relevant sections of the BNS. Investigations revealed that old enmity was the primary motive behind the incident.The deceased was identified as Saurabh Vishwakarma alias Monu. Family members of the deceased have lodged an FIR against three named and three unidentified persons.Police said the incident occurred when the victim was returning home and was allegedly intercepted and attacked by a group of people near Laxmanpur. The critically injured worker succumbed to his injuries during treatment at a hospital.
