Panaji: As part of Converge 3.0, a campaign to link industry with colleges in Goa, the directorate of higher education (DHE) has organised a tech job drive through February. Officials said 1,150 students have registered so far and 30 technology companies have come forward to scout for potential recruits.
The DHE has partnered with the Goa Technology Association (GTA). Director of higher education Bhushan Savaikar said the objective is to ensure that students from Goa’s colleges do not merely graduate but secure employment. GTA president Mangirish Salelkar said results of the job drive will be announced by the end of February. DHE programme director Niyan Marchon said participants were also given pre-placement soft skills training by Rohit Rajput of CSRBOX.
Earlier, under the Converge initiative, the Leap AI Hackathon 2026 was organised with a focus on artificial intelligence innovation. The hackathon attracted 150 teams, comprising 300 students, from 25 general stream colleges, five engineering colleges and NIT Goa.
“The hackathon was organised to strengthen student engagement with emerging technologies. The aim was to build awareness and practical skills in artificial intelligence through hands-on learning,” Marchon said. Students developed AI-based solutions to real-world problems.
